This was our first time. Last year, after just getting Graham's diagnoses, things were a little too 'raw' for us, for me to put it bluntly. We had heard about Walk in the Park (WITP), but didn't really inquire much more about it. I thought...maybe next year...
This year was definitely a different story. This year, we were excited to be a part of something so wonderful. This year, the news isn't so raw. In fact, this year there is an abundance of love, of reassurance that life is going to be ok. As we wrap our arms around our son in addition to wrapping our minds around what it means to have a child with Down syndrome, we are at peace with where God has us in life. We have grown by leaps and bounds. Not just in knowledge, but in faith. God's goodness is just that...
So. Good.
As His word so eloquetly states in Psalm 30:5:
"Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning."
For me, it was more than just a night, but the truth is, joy did always come in the morning. His mercies are new everyday. Our pastor has repeated that a lot lately and I am thankful to be reminded of that. I NEED to be reminded of that. I need His mercies and I welcome His joy with open arms...those same arms that hold my little boy oh so tight every single day. Words cannot describe the love we (Scott & I) have for our son. I go to bed every night thanking Jesus for him. Just...the...way...he...is...

Now, back to WITP! :)
As the words imply, it is an actual walk in the park (Busch Stadium, that is). So cool to be on the actual field as the Cardinals. It's a different perspective looking out at the seats from the ground vs. from the seats to the field. The stadium doesn't seem so big down there.
Graham was selected to be at home plate for opening ceremonies. What a sweet experience. Only one person could be with him and Scott gave me that honor....what a man! The announcer said "Graham Snodgrass" over the loud speaker and we were on the infamous jumbo tron for about a second. Graham slept in my arms most of the time, but we will have pictures to show him when he's older. ;)
We were so thankful for the many family members and friends that came out that day to once again give support. We love you and are so very blessed by each and everyone of you!
Ads having fun with the Muckerman clan. A wonderful family we have connected with through our local DS support group. Love the pic below of Adeline & Shane.
Until next year... :)
