Graham meets his great-grandparents

We went to PaPa & NaNa's house for the weekend! YAY! Adeline was SO excited she couldn't stop talking about going all week long!

A few snap shots of Graham with PaPa & NaNa and Addy with Brit & Nana.

PaPa & Graham - sucking his thumb :-)

Not all children are so blessed to be able to meet their great-grandparents, but fortunately for us, our children have been able to meet a few of them.

A brief background as of today - a little bittersweet, but it's good to know your past too:

My (mommy's) grandparents died quite some time ago. Granny's dad (James Chastain) died when I was in high school of emphysema. Granny's mom (Christine Cushman) died when I was in college of 'old age', that's what they say anyway. Her body started to break down and she was ready to go. Sadly, my father passed away when I was 16 (Athanasios Damalas; aka: Tom or Tommy) from colon cancer. His father died before I was born and I don't know what was the cause. My yia yia also died a few years after college also from 'old age' - medical problems, not sure of the official name. The beautiful thing for all of them is that they were all grandparents (with the exception of my dad's father). All of them got to experience joy and love from being married, raising a family and then also having grandchildren. That is truly a blessing!

Daddy's grandparents are all still living except one, Grandma's father (Harold Leivian). I was so fortunate to be able to meet him before his passing. He was a very special person in daddy's life and will always hold a special place in his heart. Again, always bittersweet...

Life is fragile, that we know for certain. Seeing the grandparents reminded me of that this past weekend. It's interesting as we age - - - once they were young and vibrant just like we think we are now. But, one day, we will be in their shoes (if the Lord allows us to live that long). It is so hard to wrap my mind around that, yet I know it is 'there'----just time waiting on us. We need to remember that today is truly a gift - not something we were promised, but something God allowed us to enjoy. And joy is also a gift, a decision one must make each and every day. This world can be so crazy, so hectic, and sometimes so evil, but there is hope within us who have Christ as our Savior. This is mine and daddy's prayer for our children. To grow up to know, love and serve the mighty creator.

Beautiful flowers at NaNa's house - I just had to take a pic!

BUT - this was a FUN trip, so lets turn to some happier moments. :)

Got to see Grandma too!

Graham had actually already met one of her great-grandparents (Grandma Leivian). She was able to travel to St. Charles to visit us a couple times. We always love her visits! We were able to see her again this time as well.

Additionally, Graham met Great-Grandmother and Grandfather Snodgrass. They were so delighted to see you!

Betty (Grandmother) even bought a cake from Chez Monet in your honor! It was adorable and very yummy!

Everyone just coo'd all over you all weekend. You are such a wonderful baby - letting others hold you - you just love being held, it doesn't matter who is loving on you. ;)

Grandmother Snodgrass took this time to give Adeline some jewelry that she used to wear - a gold baby ring and a few gold necklaces. She is always so thoughtful. Mama put those in your jewelry box for later! You always love opening and looking in your jewelry box. It is so much fun to see your eyes light up. You may only be 2, but you sure do love jewelry!
Uncle Randy & Aunt Ellie came over to get their paws on you too!

Most of our time was just spent hanging out, laying low and enjoying time with family. Mommy and daddy did get to sneak out for a bit on Sunday morning to go golfing at Meadow Lake with Randy and Ellie Bono. It was awesome to be out on the golf course!

Adeline had to play dress up with Great-grandmother and NaNa's things - she also had a hat on at one point - too cute!

NaNa is always so creative letting Addy be 'creative' when she comes to visit! Thanks NaNa! :)
